Woods crash bodycam footage released by police

Florida authorities have shared body camera video capturing Tiger Woods following a collision that left his vehicle overturned last month. The 15-time major champion, 50, was detained and charged with driving under the influence after the incident. A written plea of not guilty was submitted through his legal team on Tuesday, alongside accusations of property damage and refusal to comply with a drug test. The footage reveals the moment Woods exits his car, which had rolled over, and is taken into custody by officers.

Arrest details and condition

According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, Woods passed a breathalyser test but declined a urinalysis for other substances. The video shows him in a blue polo shirt, shorts, and dark sunglasses, being handcuffed as police question him. Officers noted his “normal faculties are impaired” by an “unknown substance,” as stated in the arrest affidavit. The document also describes Woods as “sweating profusely,” with “extremely dilated” pupils and “lethargic and slow” movements.

During the incident, no one was harmed, though Woods had to crawl out of the passenger door to free himself. Authorities discovered two white pills in his pocket, identified as hydrocodone—an opioid used for pain relief. While being searched, he remained calm and confirmed he had no other items on his person.

Future plans and Ryder Cup decision

Woods has been granted judicial permission to pursue treatment abroad and plans to temporarily step away from professional golf to prioritize his recovery. The decision to decline the United States Ryder Cup captain role in 2027 follows this latest development. The event will take place in Ireland that year, and Woods’ absence raises questions about the sport’s reliance on his presence.
