Macron dismisses Trump’s ‘inelegant’ dig about his marriage

During a recent critique of NATO, Donald Trump made a pointed remark about Emmanuel Macron’s marital situation, suggesting the French president’s wife “accuses Macron’s spouse of being harsh.” Macron swiftly responded, downplaying the significance of the comment. “These remarks are unrefined and lack in decorum,” the French leader stated, opting not to engage further.

Trump’s mock comments during NATO address

A short clip shared by the White House on YouTube—later removed—showed Trump mocking Macron as he criticized NATO allies for their lack of involvement in military actions against Iran. “He claimed the alliance wasn’t essential, yet he still requested support,” Trump said, referencing a 2023 video depicting Brigitte Macron pushing Macron during a visit to Vietnam. “If you could, could you please send ships immediately?” he added, mimicking a French accent to mock Macron’s demeanor.

Focus on Middle East stability

Macron redirected the conversation, emphasizing the need for “calm and a return to peace” in the Middle East. “There is too much talk, and it’s all over the place,” he remarked, critiquing Trump’s war policy. “The priority should be de-escalation and a ceasefire,” the French president asserted, contrasting Trump’s approach with his own vision for regional stability. He concluded, “This isn’t a show!”
