Raye tops album charts with This Music May Contain Hope

Award-winning artist Raye has claimed the top spot in the UK album chart with her new release, *This Music May Contain Hope*. The project, launched last week, marks her first number one album, adding to her impressive 2024 achievements. Earlier this year, she secured a major hit with the single *Where the Hell is My Husband*, which debuted at Glastonbury and is now nearing a billion streams on Spotify.

Chart Highlights and Musical Evolution

Raye’s latest work blends jazz, blues, and soul with orchestral elements, evoking a vintage pop sensibility. She previously released *My 21st Century Blues* in 2023, which debuted at number two. This year, she also set a record with seven Brit nominations, winning six and cementing her status as a leading figure in the music industry.

“There’s a thing I miss in pop music today— that Motown feel, that classic, analogue vibe,” Raye shared with the BBC last year. “I wanted to experiment with that in a vivid way.”

Meanwhile, Olivia Dean’s *The Art of Loving* holds the second position, while Ye’s *Bully* secures number three. In the singles chart, Dean and Sam Fender’s *Rein Me In* leads the pack, followed by Bella Kay’s *Iloveitiloveitiloveit*. Tame Impala’s *Dracula* makes its debut in the top 10, and Harry Styles maintains his spot with *American Girls*. BTS, meanwhile, remains at number five with *Swim*, while their album *Arirang* ranks fourth in the album chart. Melanie Martinez’s *Hades* trails closely behind at number five.
