Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s Today show, as search for mother goes on
US television personality Savannah Guthrie has resumed hosting NBC’s Today show on Monday, marking her first studio appearance since January 30. That date was two days prior to the reported disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, from her home near Tucson, Arizona.
Following the incident, Guthrie temporarily halted her anchoring responsibilities and withdrew from NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage. She recently stated during an interview with Today that her return to work was essential, emphasizing, “I can’t not come back. This is my family.” However, she admitted uncertainty about her ability to continue with the same commitment.
In an Easter Sunday message from Good Shepherd New York, Guthrie reaffirmed her Christian faith. She shared,
“I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,'”
closing the service with a heartfelt reflection.
Authorities believe Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her residence against her will, though no clear motive or suspect has been disclosed. The family announced a $1 million reward for information leading to her recovery. Nancy was last seen at her home on the evening of January 31, and her absence was noted when she failed to attend a friend’s virtual Sunday service the next day.
Guthrie’s return to the airwaves comes amid ongoing efforts to locate her mother, with the search continuing to intensify. Her public focus on the case has raised questions about the role her celebrity status might have played in the incident.
