Prince Harry Sued by Charity He Co-Founded for Defamation

Legal documents indicate that a charity co-established by the Duke of Sussex, Sentebale, has initiated a defamation lawsuit against him. The case, registered on 24 March, lists Prince Harry as a defendant along with Mark Dyer, another former board member of the organization. As of now, no additional details have been shared by either party’s representatives.

The dispute between Prince Harry and Sentebale escalated last year, culminating in his departure from the charity. The court records categorize the claim as “defamation – libel and slander,” though no supporting evidence or further context has been disclosed. The conflict appears to have centered on governance practices, with the charity’s chair, Sophie Chandauka, reportedly at odds with the departing trustees.

Sentebale operates in Botswana and Lesotho, focusing on improving the health and quality of life for youth, particularly those affected by HIV and AIDS. A subsequent review by the Charity Commission highlighted conflicting responsibilities among the parties involved, criticizing the public nature of the disagreement for potentially damaging the charity’s reputation.
