Britney Spears goes into rehab after driving under the influence arrest
Britney Spears Enters Rehabilitation Following DUI Arrest
Britney Spears has begun a rehabilitation program, nearly a month after her arrest for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Her spokesperson confirmed the move to multiple US news outlets on Sunday, highlighting her proactive decision to seek treatment. The incident, which occurred on March 4, led to a public statement from her team describing the situation as “completely inexcusable” and emphasizing efforts to establish a plan for her long-term well-being.
Spears is set to face her DUI charge in California court three weeks from now. The California Highway Patrol reported that she was cited for driving her BMW “erratically at a high rate of speed” on a motorway, with officers noting signs of impairment. After being stopped, she underwent field sobriety tests as part of the process. Her representative added that her family will support her through this phase, aiming to foster positive change in her life.
“Britney is committed to taking the correct steps and following legal procedures. This could be the first step toward the transformation she has long needed,” said her representative.
The singer, known for chart-topping hits like “Baby One More Time,” “Toxic,” and “Womanizer,” has faced significant personal challenges. A 13-year conservatorship, enforced by her father, managed her finances and daily life from 2007 until 2021. At the time, he argued it was necessary to stabilize her health and address her “physical, emotional, mental, and financial distress.” He claimed the arrangement helped her regain control, and now she is ready to reassert independence.
