Arrests over Persian media offices arson attempt

Three individuals have been taken into custody after a suspected arson incident targeted the premises of a Persian language media outlet in northwest London. The attack occurred in Wembley on Wednesday evening, around 20:30 BST, when an incendiary device was hurled at the building. No damage or injuries were reported, according to police.

Investigation and arrests

Officers pursued a black SUV after the container was thrown, eventually leading to the apprehension of a 16-year-old boy and two adults, aged 19 and 21, on suspicion of arson endangering life. The vehicle crashed on Ballards Lane, where the arrests were made.

“The incident is not being classified as a terrorist act and is not currently linked to other recent arson cases in the area,” stated the Metropolitan Police.

Public safety measures

Several nearby structures were evacuated as a precautionary measure but were quickly reopened once authorities confirmed no broader threat to the public.

Context and ongoing probe

While the attack is not connected to Wednesday’s attempted arson at a Finchley synagogue or last month’s blaze on Hatzola ambulances in Golders Green, counter-terrorism detectives are spearheading the inquiry with support from local teams.
