Beckhams have ‘always tried to be best parents’, Victoria says after Brooklyn row
Victoria Beckham says Beckhams ‘always tried to be best parents’ after Brooklyn row
Following a recent family dispute sparked by their eldest son Brooklyn’s public critique, Victoria Beckham emphasized her and Sir David’s dedication to parenthood during an interview with the Wall Street Journal. The statement marks her first direct engagement with the controversy since it began.
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham had previously shared a detailed Instagram post in January, accusing his parents of undermining his relationship with his wife, Nicola. He alleged that their focus on promoting the “Brand Beckham” had prioritized public image over genuine family bonds.
“We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be,” Victoria said. “Our love for our children is what drives everything we do, even as we’ve been under the spotlight for over three decades.”
Brooklyn’s six-page message highlighted a breakdown in family relations, claiming he felt compelled to speak out after his parents repeatedly turned to the press. Among his allegations were that his mother had last-minute canceled Nicola’s wedding dress and performed an “inappropriate dance” during the ceremony.
Some guests corroborated Brooklyn’s account, with DJ Fat Tony supporting his claim about the awkward dance. However, singer Marc Anthony disputed the narrative, calling it “hardly the truth.”
Sir David, while not directly commenting on the rift, addressed social media’s role in shaping family dynamics during a Davos panel. He noted that children are “allowed to make mistakes” and that the digital age has changed how families are perceived publicly.
Victoria’s latest remarks follow her birthday wishes for Brooklyn on social media, signaling a softer approach amid the fallout. The couple’s commitment to their children’s well-being remains central to their public narrative, despite the recent tensions.
