Jewish man called ‘baby killer’ in antisemitic attack
A Jewish man shared his experience of being targeted in an antisemitic incident that left him fearing for his safety. The event occurred in Slough, where he was working when a man launched an aggressive attack. According to the victim, who identified himself as Moshe, the assault took place on Monday and included verbal abuse and physical threats.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that a 48-year-old man from Slough was arrested on suspicion of racially or religiously motivated assault and public order violations. The altercation was captured on video, which shows the aggressor shouting insults and attempting to seize Moshe’s phone. At the time, Moshe was wearing a black kippa, a traditional Jewish head covering, as he walked along Elliman Avenue.
“I was focused on staying alive,” Moshe recounted. “But I also kept asking myself: ‘Why did I think it was safe to be out like this, as a visible Jew in England?'”
The footage reveals the attacker repeatedly used offensive language, questioning Moshe’s presence and hurling the slur “dirty Jew” at him. The incident has left the victim unsettled, with concerns about safety in certain areas. Police responded at 16:36 BST, arriving after the aggressor had threatened a man in his 20s.
“This event will raise serious concerns among Jewish communities,” said Det Insp Terry Dixon. “We will not accept antisemitic acts and will pursue justice relentlessly.”
Shomrim, a volunteer organization that aids Jewish communities, labeled the attack as “a cruel and unprovoked antisemitic assault.” They emphasized the severity of the incident and its impact on the victim’s sense of security. The group’s statement underscores the ongoing threat faced by Jewish individuals in public spaces.
