Leeds stay top with eight-try win over Catalans
Leeds Rhinos secure dominant victory
Leeds Rhinos maintained their position at the top of the Super League table after a commanding 46-16 victory over Catalans Dragons at Headingley Stadium. The win marked their fourth consecutive success, while Catalans endured their fourth straight loss of the season.
From the opening moments, Leeds showcased their attacking prowess, with Ash Handley scoring the first try within two minutes. This early lead set the tone for a performance that saw the Rhinos dominate every aspect of the game. Maika Sivo and Ryan Hall, the league’s all-time leading try scorer, added tries before halftime, extending the Rhinos’ lead to 16-0.
“It was a fourth consecutive win for Leeds to keep them top of the table,” noted the match report, highlighting the club’s relentless form.
Early in the second half, Leeds unleashed a 16-minute onslaught, crossing the try line four times in quick succession. Danny Levi, Cooper Jenkins, Brodie Croft, and Hall all contributed to the rout. Despite Catalans’ efforts, Leo Darrelatour managed a solitary try, though it couldn’t prevent a scoreless outing for the visitors.
With Leeds 40-0 up, the Dragons finally found a way back, but Darrelatour’s try was a brief reprieve. The Rhinos sealed the match in the penultimate minute when James McDonnell added an eighth try, ensuring a decisive win. The game’s momentum never wavered, with Leeds’ forwards and backs executing with precision.
