Homes evacuated after explosion near Northern Ireland police station

Following an explosion close to a police station in Dunmurray, Northern Ireland, a security alert led to the evacuation of nearby residences. The incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday morning, occurred in the Kingsway district, just beyond Belfast. Police are now on-site, and the public has been urged to keep a distance from the area.

Authorities have set up cordons around the location to ensure safety. While details remain limited, initial assessments indicate the event might have involved a car bomb. No injuries have been reported as of now.

“At this stage, there is very little information, and I hope no one is hurt,” said Sinn Féin’s Danny Baker, whose Belfast West constituency includes Dunmurry. He also advised travelers to consider alternative routes to avoid the affected zone.

The exact cause of the explosion is under investigation, with officials emphasizing the need for caution until further updates are available.
