Hunt for Gunman Who Fled on E-Bike After Shooting
Emergency services were alerted to gunfire at a vehicle on Speedwell Road, Bristol, around 1:47 PM BST. A man in his 20s suffered critical injuries and was hospitalized following the incident. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the suspect escaped the scene on a black and grey electric bike, heading toward Soundwell.
As the investigation progressed, four local schools implemented precautionary lockdowns. However, they have since permitted students to return home. The affected institutions include Bristol Brunel Academy, Two Mile Hill Primary, and Chester Park Infant and Junior schools.
Authorities have released details of the suspect: a white male in his late teens or early 20s, with a slim physique and a height of approximately 1.8 meters (6ft). He was dressed in a grey hoodie, black trousers, and a balaclava.
“This incident is incredibly concerning for the community,” said Ch Insp James Clements. “We’ve deployed significant resources to locate the individual and secure an arrest.”
Clements emphasized the ongoing police presence in the area, noting that neighborhood officers prioritize public safety. “If you notice anything unusual, please report it to us immediately,” he added.
“We understand the disruption this may cause, especially near the end of the school day,” stated Two Mile Hill Primary. “Ensuring the safety of our students and community remains our top priority.”
A parent of a Year 6 student at Two Mile Hill described the situation as “a pain” for those waiting outside, but praised the school’s communication. “Children were happy inside playing,” they said, acknowledging the unsettling nature of the event.
