The clip captured him encouraging security personnel as they subdued a female activist who shouted “Free, Free, Palestine” while being pushed down. The minister then stood beside dozens of activists kneeling on the ground, their hands bound behind their backs, and declared in Hebrew, “Welcome to Israel. Australia’s Foreign Minister, Penny Wong, criticized Ben-Gvir for the “degrading” treatment of the activists, while France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain collectively called the minister’s conduct “unacceptable.” Each country had summoned its respective Israeli ambassador to express concerns. The Irish Foreign Minister, Helen McEntee, added that the footage demonstrated the “illegally detained participants,” including Irish citizens, were “not being treated with appropriate dignity or respect.” Adalah echoed this sentiment, stating the video showcased Israel’s “criminal policy of abuse and humiliation against activists.”
