Carey Mulligan awarded CBE at Windsor Castle

CBE Awarded to Carey Mulligan at Windsor Castle Ceremony

Actress Carey Mulligan, an Oscar nominee, received a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) from King Charles during an investiture event at Windsor Castle. The honor recognizes her contributions to the dramatic arts, following her roles in films like *An Education*, *The Great Gatsby*, and *Drive*.

Reflecting on the Honor

“I feel so unbelievably lucky to get to do a job that I really, really love,” Mulligan said. “To have this kind of recognition on top, is just sort of extraordinary to me.”

The ceremony took place on Tuesday, with Mulligan among notable attendees. Joining her were Hilary McGrady, director-general of the National Trust; Adm Sir Tony Radakin, former Chief of the Defence Staff; Valerie Lolomari, a survivor of female genital mutilation and activist; and Jonathan Davies, a retired Welsh rugby player and television presenter.

Upcoming Projects and Collaborations

Mulligan will star in Greta Gerwig’s Netflix adaptation of *The Chronicles of Narnia*, titled *Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew*, later this year. She will share the screen with Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig, and Meryl Streep. Describing the project, she called it a “dream job,” highlighting its significance in her career.

When asked about potential successors to Daniel Craig as James Bond, Mulligan responded with humor. “Oh my gosh, that’s so hard—really hard, isn’t it?” she said. “He’s got big shoes to fill. I think the thing about Daniel is that he was an extraordinary actor, and I don’t think he was the person you’d initially imagine for that part. The main thing is, it’s just got to be someone who’s an incredible actor.”

Notable Roles and Accolades

Recently, Mulligan appeared in the Bafta-nominated film *The Ballad of Wallis Island*, co-starring with Tim Key and Tom Basden. Her filmography includes critically praised works such as Bradley Cooper’s *Maestro* and Emerald Fennell’s *Promising Young Woman*, both of which earned her Oscar best actress nods. In 2010, she won a Bafta for leading actress for her portrayal of a schoolgirl in *An Education*, a coming-of-age drama that also garnered an Academy Award nomination.

As a London-based performer, Mulligan has also showcased her talents in various television series and stage productions, further cementing her versatility in the entertainment industry.
