Dan Walker to appear at tribunal as ex co-host brings bullying claim

Dan Walker to Face Employment Tribunal Over Bullying Allegations

Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, a former co-host on Channel 5 News, has initiated a legal case against Dan Walker, alleging he subjected her to bullying during their collaboration. The case also involves ITN, the production company behind the channel, and Paramount, its parent organization. Vanderpuije’s legal representative confirmed the respondents in the claim.

“This claim, which is denied in full, will be addressed through the tribunal process,” said an ITN spokesperson.

According to The Mail on Sunday, which first broke the story, Vanderpuije has also cited instances of sexism and misogyny against Walker. The media outlet reported that Walker has submitted over 50 character references to support his defense. A prior internal review of the allegations did not find evidence of misconduct.

The trial is set to commence in London on 20 April and will span five weeks, as outlined by Vanderpuije’s lawyer, Jonathan Coad. Walker, who previously appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, joined Vanderpuije as a co-host on Channel 5 News in 2022. Vanderpuije departed the channel in 2024. ITN’s CEO, Rachel Corp, is also named as a respondent in the case.

Both Walker and Paramount have been contacted for their perspectives on the dispute. The tribunal will assess the claims, with the outcome yet to be determined.
