Euphoria season three trailer: Everything we know so far

East Highland High School’s wayward youth, once featured in the show’s first two seasons, will return to television on 12 April. The third season’s trailer hints at their transition from teenage chaos to early adulthood, capturing their struggles with relationships, substance abuse, and personal growth. This season picks up five years after the previous finale, promising intense drama, addictive substances, and deep betrayals.

Characters in Adulthood

Rue, portrayed by Zendaya, is now entangled in new dangers. In the latest trailer, she faces threats from Alamo, a mysterious figure seeking revenge. Meanwhile, Laurie, the infamous drug dealer from earlier seasons, is also targeted. A scene shows Rue being questioned by authorities about her Mexico trip, followed by a tense moment where she swallows an unknown substance. Cassie, played by Sydney Sweeney, is now a married content creator, while Nate, her husband, appears to be in trouble. Jules, Hunter Schafer’s character, continues her journey as an aspiring painter and a sugar baby.

“I feel strongly this is our best season yet,” said showrunner Sam Levinson in December. He emphasized that the timeline five years after the last episode felt natural, as the characters would have likely completed college by then.

Lexi, portrayed by Maude Apatow, will serve as an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone. The season includes eight episodes, with the final one airing on 31 May. All principal stars, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney, will return. Over 20 new cast additions have been revealed, such as singer Rosalía and personality Trisha Paytas.

Production Challenges and Cast Reactions

Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, died at 25 after the second season. His character’s storyline ended in a dramatic cliffhanger, complicating the production of season three. The show was initially scheduled to film in December 2023 but faced delays due to Cloud’s passing and Hollywood strikes. Cast member Colman Domingo noted that Fezco’s arc was meant to be a central part of the season, with the team often gathering to honor Cloud’s contributions.

Other notable additions to the cast include Danielle Deadwyler, Natasha Lyonne, and Colleen Camp. Eli Roth, Kwame Patterson, and Madison Thompson are also set to appear. While some actors like Storm Reid, Austin Abrams, and Algee Smith are not returning, the season will feature new dynamics, such as Cassie’s reunion with her former best friend Maddy.

Zendaya, Elordi, and other stars have since gained prominence in other projects. Zendaya starred in Dune, Spider-Man, and Challengers, while Elordi received an Oscar nod for Frankenstein and appeared in Wuthering Heights. Despite the challenges, the season is expected to deliver a compelling continuation of the series’ intense narrative.
