Offset Shot in Florida, According to US Media Reports
Reports from US media indicate that former Migos rapper Offset was shot outside a casino in Florida. The 34-year-old artist, whose full name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, is currently in stable condition and receiving close medical observation at a hospital, as confirmed by a representative. Local law enforcement stated the event occurred on Monday evening, with two individuals detained for their involvement in the incident.
Seminole Police Department Provides Details
“The shooting took place at a valet area after 19:00 on Monday, outside Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, and resulted in non-life-threatening injuries,” a spokesperson for the Seminole Police Department told The Hollywood Reporter. The investigation into the event is still underway.
Offset, a key member of the hip-hop group Migos, is recognized for his contributions to the trio’s success. Alongside Quavo and Takeoff, he helped popularize tracks like “Versace” in 2013 and “Bad and Boujee” in 2017, which topped the Billboard Hot 100. The group has been acknowledged as one of the most influential acts of their era.
In early 2022, the trio dissolved, leading Quavo and Takeoff to form their own duo, Unc & Phew. Offset focused on a solo path, but the group’s legacy continued through their earlier work. Tragically, Takeoff was fatally shot in November 2022 at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas. His record label expressed sorrow in a statement: “Senseless violence and a stray bullet has taken another life from this world and we are devastated.”
Offset’s personal life has also seen changes, including his marriage to US singer and rapper Cardi B in 2017. The couple has three children but later separated and filed for divorce in 2024. BBC Newsbeat is seeking further comments from Offset’s representatives and the Seminole Police Department.
