Four children stabbed to death at Ugandan school
Authorities in Kampala, Uganda, confirmed that four children were attacked with knives and killed at a local school. The incident occurred at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program school, located in the Makindye Division of the capital. Police are currently investigating the motive behind the violence, while the suspect has been detained.
“The suspect has been apprehended, and the motive behind the killings is still under investigation,” Uganda’s police force stated in a brief message on X.
Local residents told Uganda’s Daily Monitor that the attacker had disguised himself as a parent to gain access to the school. After speaking with the administrator, he turned violent and attacked the children. The victims were between two and three years old.
“Uganda’s Daily Monitor newspaper is quoting local residents as saying that the suspect posed as a parent to get into the school and then after talking to the administrator attacked the children,” the report added.
Videos circulating on social media depict crowds of people reacting with anger and sorrow to the tragedy. A local journalist, Erich Mboowa, noted that the suspect was swiftly captured to “prevent him from being lynched.”
