Major Euston rail disruption across Easter weekend

Major Euston Rail Disruption Across Easter Weekend

London Euston station will see a significant drop in train services throughout the Easter holiday period. From Good Friday, 3 April, to Wednesday, 8 April, Avanti services will stop at Milton Keynes Central instead of continuing to London. This is due to ongoing engineering work by Network Rail, which includes replacing a key bridge and upgrading signaling systems.

Passengers affected by the Euston disruption can use replacement buses connecting Milton Keynes and Bedford. These buses will allow travelers to switch to trains heading toward London St Pancras. Network Rail’s Jake Kelly noted:

“Bank holidays are among the quietest times for the railway, and the four-day Easter break offers a prime chance to carry out projects that can’t be done during a regular weekend.” He added, “Some changes are expected, and it’s wise for people to confirm their travel plans beforehand.”

Other rail services will also face reductions. The London Overground’s Lioness Line will have limited operations on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Meanwhile, train services between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction will be scaled back as switches and crossings are renewed. On the London Underground, the Hammersmith and City line will be suspended entirely during the four-day Easter period.

Additionally, the Bakerloo line will experience delays between Stonebridge Park and Harrow and Wealdstone. The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will also see disruptions between Bank and Tower Gateway, and from Poplar to West India Quay during the same timeframe. Travelers are advised to check updated schedules and consider alternative routes for smoother journeys.
