Scott Mills sacked from BBC Radio 2 over ‘personal conduct’

Scott Mills Removed from BBC Radio 2 Due to Conduct Issues

The BBC announced Scott Mills’ departure from the station, citing concerns about his personal behavior. While the organization did not elaborate on the specifics, it confirmed that Mills is no longer under contract and has left BBC Radio 2. His exit came after he concluded his weekday show on March 24, 2025, with a brief sign-off of “Back tomorrow.” The following day, Gary Davies took over, introducing the program by stating he was “in for Scott Mills.”

Mills had assumed the role of Radio 2’s breakfast show host in January 2025, succeeding Zoe Ball. Before this, he had been part of the station’s weekday lineup since 2022, hosting the afternoon slot after replacing Steve Wright. His career with BBC spanned multiple platforms, including Radio 1, where he led the Official Charts from 2018 to 2022, following Greg James. He also contributed to Radio 5Live with a weekend show and appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.

“This news will be sudden and unexpected, and therefore must come as a shock. Not least as so many of us have worked with Scott over a great many years, across a broad range of our programmes on R1, 5Live, R2 and TV,” said Lorna Clarke, Director of Music, in an email to staff.

In 2024, Mills and his husband Sam Vaughan triumphed in BBC’s Celebrity Race Across The World. He was preparing to launch a new podcast, Race Across The World: The Detour, which would feature weekly contributions from guest stars, including comedians and celebrity fans. His television appearances included a skit for Traitors during Comic Relief and commentary for BBC One’s Eurovision semi-finals in 2025.

According to the latest annual report, Mills earned between £355,000 and £359,999, placing him among the top 11 highest-paid BBC personalities. The story continues to develop, with additional details expected soon. For real-time updates, check the BBC News App or follow @BBCBreaking on X.
