Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say
Strictly Come Dancing Star to Avoid Rape Charges, Police Confirm
Hertfordshire Police have announced that a celebrity from the BBC dance series Strictly Come Dancing, who was detained on suspicion of rape in October 2025, will not be charged criminally. The individual’s identity has remained undisclosed, and they were released on bail following their arrest on 13 October 2025. Detectives concluded after reviewing evidence with the Crown Prosecution Service that there was “not enough proof” to pursue formal charges.
According to reports, the incident in question occurred after a BBC event, where the man was allegedly accused of raping a woman. The Sun noted at the time that the woman was not a participant in the show, but had connected with him through his involvement in the competition. This case appears unrelated to the latest season of Strictly, which airs between September and December.
“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary on 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” stated the police. “Bail was extended until 7 April 2026 to allow further investigations, but detectives have decided there is insufficient evidence to proceed.”
Earlier in the year, another individual linked to the show was also arrested in August 2025 on similar allegations. The Metropolitan Police indicated at that time the man was additionally suspected of “non-consensual intimate image abuse.” However, the specific role of this person in the program remains unclear.
The BBC competition, which takes place at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, continues to draw public attention. The latest update confirms the unnamed star will not face further legal action.
