Two more murder arrests following the death of a 14-year-old boy
A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot in Woolwich, south-east London, on Thursday at approximately 15:40 BST. Eghosa Ogbebor succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the incident on Lord Warwick Street. The Metropolitan Police confirmed additional arrests later that week, with a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man detained on suspicion of murder. A 46-year-old man was also apprehended for allegedly aiding the offender.
Det Ch Insp Lucie Card, overseeing the case, noted that three individuals were arrested on Friday—two boys aged 14 and 16, alongside an 18-year-old man—but have since been granted bail. She emphasized the ongoing efforts of the investigative team to uncover details surrounding Eghosa’s tragic passing. “Residents may have observed heightened police presence last night as officers carried out further arrests,” she added. “We acknowledge the worry this event has caused, especially within the local community, and expect continued surveillance in the area.”
“We urge anyone who witnessed unusual activity or has relevant information to reach out to the police,” said Det Ch Insp Lucie Card.
Authorities are working to determine the circumstances of the shooting, which has sparked renewed attention in the Woolwich neighborhood.
