Essex Police Investigate Fatal Incident

On Friday evening, at 22:45 BST, Essex Police responded to a call at Long Hide, a property in the village of Leaden Roding, near Dunmow. The woman found at the scene was identified as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, 19, who sustained critical injuries. Emergency responders arrived to find her in a life-threatening condition, though she was later pronounced dead on the spot, according to the police statement.

The force confirmed that a 37-year-old man from Dunmow was detained on suspicion of negligently managing a dog that was dangerously out of control, leading to fatal injuries. The animal was seized, and specialist officers secured the area to ensure safety. A cordon was still in place at the house on Sunday.

“This incident will be a shock to the local community,” said Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper. “My thoughts and those of the entire Essex Police team are with the woman’s family and loved ones. Experienced detectives are now leading the investigation to determine the full circumstances.”

Authorities are seeking public assistance, asking anyone with CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, or other video evidence to contact them. The case has been logged as incident 1419, dated 10 April. Meanwhile, St Michael and All Angels church announced plans to hold a prayer session and light candles at the village’s church on Sunday afternoon.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant, with the police emphasizing the importance of reporting any relevant details. The incident continues to draw attention, highlighting the need for community support in uncovering the events that led to the tragic outcome.
