Couple in court after boy, 13, dies in crash

A 13-year-old boy lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, on Friday at 23:50 BST. The incident involved a car, a bicycle, and a scooter. Two other teenagers were severely injured and transported to the hospital. Jamie Fountain, 24, and Ellie Ireland, 23, appeared in court in Luton, facing various charges linked to the crash. Both were granted custody and will return to Luton Crown Court on 5 May for further proceedings.

Fountain, a groundworker residing at Fir Tree Close, Flitwick, was charged with causing a fatal accident through careless driving. His offenses also included driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, two counts of causing serious injury, failing to stop at the accident site, not reporting the incident, and conspiracy to obstruct justice. Ireland, an EasyJet cabin crew member from Wingate Drive, Ampthill, was specifically accused of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

During the court session, it was revealed that Fountain had been operating a BMW at the time of the crash, with Ireland as his passenger. Family members of Noah and both defendants were in attendance. Police reported that one of the injured teenagers remained in critical condition, while the other was hospitalized with serious injuries.

His family, who issued a tribute through the police, described Noah as a “fun, bright, handsome, athletic” boy who was “incredibly well-liked.”
