Arson arrest after fire at packed-out LGBT+ club

Arson Arrest Following Nightclub Fire

A 51-year-old man from Milton Keynes has been detained on suspicion of setting fire to a crowded LGBT+ club with intent to endanger lives. The incident occurred at Pink Punters, a popular venue in Fenny Stratford, near Milton Keynes, during the early hours of the morning. Flames rapidly spread, prompting an emergency evacuation of attendees.

Fire Service Details

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 02:09 BST to the blaze on Watling Street. At its peak, crews deployed 12 fire engines to combat the fire, which required sustained efforts to suppress hotspots. Authorities warned that road closures would stay in place for an extended period.

Witness Testimony

“Out of nowhere, staff and security began shouting, ‘you need to get out now,'”

— Molly Firman, eyewitness

Molly Firman, who frequents Pink Punters regularly, described the chaos during the evacuation. “It just didn’t seem real in the moment,” she recalled. “Am I dreaming this? Is it actually happening?” She was with friends when the fire alarm blared, and the crowd was forced to flee. “We were outside the cocktail bar, and suddenly the situation escalated,” Firman added. “The flames were intense, and it felt like the fire grew rapidly within minutes.”

Police Statement

Thames Valley Police confirmed the man remains in custody. A spokesperson emphasized that speculation about the motive should be avoided until more information is available. “People were evacuated quickly and effectively,” said Ch Supt Emma Baillie, Milton Keynes commander. “We’re still assessing the full impact of the incident and its causes.”
