Attempted murder arrest after car hits pedestrians

Arrest Following Pedestrian Collision in Central London

Driver accused of attempted murder and dangerous offenses

A 30-year-old woman was detained by police for attempted murder following a collision on Argyll Street in central London at around 04:30 BST. The incident, which occurred early Sunday morning, involved a vehicle striking pedestrians, resulting in one woman suffering critical injuries. Emergency responders were summoned to the scene, where a man in his 50s also sustained severe harm requiring hospitalization.

The driver, identified as a 29-year-old female, was arrested at the location on suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Authorities confirmed the crash took place on a Soho street near the London Palladium theatre, but emphasized it is not linked to terrorism.

Det Ch Insp Alison Foxwell urged witnesses to come forward, stating: “As our investigations progress, we are supporting the injured and their families. “Though the event happened in the early hours, several venues in the vicinity remained open, and we believe many individuals observed the incident. “Anyone who saw the collision or any preceding activity, even if they think it seems insignificant, should share details with us.”

A third woman, in her 30s, received minor injuries and was treated on-site. Police are now seeking additional information to aid their inquiry. The public is encouraged to contact BBC London for story ideas via hello.bbclondon@bbc.co.uk.
