France: Ex-Lafarge CEO jailed for funding Syrian militants
Samael.lol – Paris judges ruled that the globe’s leading cement producer funded extremist factions in Syria to maintain operations. Monday’s ruling by a Paris court convicted Bruno Lafont, the ex-CEO of Lafarge, alongside eight former staff members of supporting terrorist activities in Syria. Bruno Lafont received a six-year prison sentence, while the firm was mandated to cover a €1.125 million fine, equivalent to $1.3 million.
The tribunal established that the cement company allocated €5.6 million, or approximately $6.53 million, to entities such as ISIS and the Nusra Front to sustain its Syrian operations. Further developments are anticipated as the case continues.
