Eight Children Killed in Louisiana Shooting, Police Say

Shreveport Police Investigate Multi-Location Shooting

A shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, has left eight children dead, with police referring to the incident as a “domestic disturbance.” The attack occurred around 5:00 AM local time, approximately 10:00 BST, when a lone gunman fired at ten individuals. Officers later pursued and fatally shot the suspect as he attempted to escape.

“We have hurting families, we have hurting police officers, coroners’ personnel,” said Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux. “This affects the entire community, so we all mourn with these families.”

Authorities reported the violence happened across several sites in the city, including two homes on the same street and a third in a different area. Police Corporal Chris Bordelon stated that officers arrived at a residence shortly before 6:00 AM and discovered the children. He emphasized that all victims were juveniles, with some being relatives of the deceased man.

Bordelon added that the call was classified as “domestic in nature,” and one of the casualties had fled to a neighboring home before the suspect took control of a vehicle and began fleeing. Officers followed him into another neighborhood, where they engaged in a firefight, resulting in the gunman’s death.
