Meghan to appear as guest judge on MasterChef Australia

The Duchess of Sussex is set to guest judge a new season of the popular Australian television series MasterChef Australia. Network Ten confirmed that Meghan filmed her segment in Melbourne on Wednesday, with the eighteenth season scheduled to debut on April 19. This marks her latest public appearance as part of a four-day tour of Australia, during which she and Prince Harry will balance community outreach with events aimed at generating revenue.

As former royal figures, the couple is visiting the country in a private capacity. This is their first trip to Australia since 2018, following a rapid schedule just months after their marriage. Alongside their public engagements, they have been supporting charitable initiatives, including a visit to a women’s refuge where Meghan personally served frittata to residents.

Tour Highlights

Prince Harry’s activities on Wednesday included a hands-on session with Australian Rules football players and a stop at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. The couple’s schedule continues in Melbourne on Thursday, after which they will travel to Sydney for further commitments.

Earlier in the week, Meghan and Harry visited the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, drawing large crowds at the entrance. Their itinerary also features a keynote address by Prince Harry at the InterEdge Psychosocial Safety Summit, where ticket prices range from A$1,000 to A$2,400. All proceeds will benefit the Lifeline charity, though the BBC has yet to confirm if Harry is receiving a fee for his participation.

Public Engagements

In Sydney, Meghan will host an “in-person conversation” at a women’s-only weekend retreat. VIP packages for the event, priced up to A$3,199, include a group photo opportunity with the Duchess. While details about her compensation remain undisclosed, the event still has a few additional rooms available for booking.

Meghan’s involvement in MasterChef Australia comes shortly after the launch of her lifestyle and cooking show, With Love, Meghan. The Duchess has also been exploring Australia as a potential market for her As Ever brand, which gained attention through the Netflix series. Last year, the company secured trademarks across 12 product categories in the country, according to government records.

The BBC has asked organisers whether the duke is receiving a fee.
