Two men guilty of ‘callous’ Brighton beach rape
Three individuals, including two men, have been convicted of sexually assaulting a woman on Brighton beach during a “cynical, predatory and callous attack,” according to the court’s findings.
“The assault was a calculated and brutal act,” jurors stated during the trial, emphasizing the victim’s profound trauma.
Iranian national Abdulla Ahmadi and Egyptian national Ibrahim Alshafe initially denied the allegations of repeatedly raping the woman in the early morning of October 4th. Karin Al-Danasurt, also from Egypt, was accused of recording the incident but maintained her innocence.
Abdulla Ahmadi, 26, and Ibrahim Alshafe, 25, were both found guilty of rape. Karin Al-Danasurt, 20, received a conviction as a secondary participant in the crime.
The men were apprehended and tried at Hove Crown Court. They were residing at a Home Office-run hotel close to Horsham at the time of the incident.
Testimony revealed the victim remained too frightened to venture outdoors after the attack. The case highlighted the psychological impact of the assault, with the court underscoring the callous nature of the perpetrators’ actions.
