Zack Polanski calls for Trump to be ‘kicked out’ of his Scottish golf courses
Zack Polanski Urges Removal of Trump from Scottish Golf Resorts
Zack Polanski, the Green Party’s leader in England and Wales, has expressed his desire to see Donald Trump removed from his Scottish golf resorts and transferred to community control. The statement came during his visit to Glasgow, where he backed Scottish Green candidates ahead of the Holyrood election. Polanski took strong issue with Trump’s actions, accusing him of initiating unjust and controversial conflicts.
Trump’s Golf Courses and Political Ties
The Green Party leader emphasized that Trump’s ownership of the golf resorts should not continue if he is responsible for starting wars that lack public support. He noted that Trump’s presence in Scotland is tied to his two resorts: Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire and Trump Turnberry in South Ayrshire. The Menie Estate in Balmedie houses the Old Course, which opened in 2012, while the New Course was inaugurated during Trump’s private visit last summer.
“It’s not for me to dictate Scotland’s choices, but I believe Donald Trump should be ejected from his golf courses,” Polanski stated. “Having the authority to launch unjust wars shouldn’t come with the privilege of maintaining private resorts.”
Trump International Scotland swiftly countered Polanski’s remarks, calling them “ridiculous and uninformed, coming from a man who is a fool.” Sarah Malone, the resort’s executive vice president, defended the leadership’s stance, asserting that the criticism is based on a lack of understanding. Polanski later clarified on social media that his comments were personal and not aligned with the party’s broader policies.
The debate highlights tensions between Trump’s political influence and his business ventures in Scotland, with Polanski challenging the notion of a “special relationship” between the UK and the US under Trump’s leadership. The exchange underscores growing scrutiny of Trump’s global footprint, even in the golf industry.
