Russian Barrage Kills Several Across Ukraine
Local authorities reported at least 13 fatalities and multiple injuries from Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine during overnight strikes. Among the victims was a 12-year-old child, whose death was confirmed in Kyiv, along with three others. In Odesa, a southern port city, seven people perished in the blasts, while Dnipro saw at least 27 injured following a missile strike that ignited fires in residential buildings. Five of those wounded were in critical condition, according to regional officials.
Damage and Casualties Spread
Emergency crews in Kyiv extracted a mother and child from a severely damaged structure in the city’s central district, as reports of explosions emerged from multiple districts. Residential and commercial buildings faced destruction, though the complete impact of the strikes remains uncertain. Air raid warnings were activated in several regions as the attacks persisted into the early hours.
On Wednesday evening, a drone strike in Odesa targeted an apartment complex, resulting in one fatality and six injuries. Ukraine’s air force claimed to have intercepted or destroyed 31 missiles and 636 drones nationwide during the assaults. “The enemy launched two waves of combined attacks using ground-based and air-launched missiles, alongside attack drones,” stated the air force in a Telegram update.
“Every day we need air defense missiles — every day Russia continues its strikes,” said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after meeting European allies in Germany. His remarks highlighted Ukraine’s urgent need for enhanced defenses, as the nation prioritizes securing international support to acquire and develop more missile systems.
