Apple names new chief executive to replace Tim Cook
Apple Appoints John Ternus as New Chief Executive
John Ternus has been selected as Apple’s new chief executive, stepping into the role following Tim Cook’s transition to executive chairman. The change will take effect on 1 September, marking the end of Cook’s 13-year tenure at the helm of the tech company. Ternus, who has served as head of hardware engineering for two decades, will now lead Apple’s operations as CEO.
Tim Cook, who has guided the company since 2011 after Steve Jobs’ departure due to health issues, will remain with Apple through the summer to ensure a smooth handover. During this period, he will support Ternus while also continuing to engage with global policymakers. Cook emphasized that the role represents “the greatest privilege of my life,” highlighting his deep connection to the company’s mission.
“John has the mind of an engineer, the soul of an innovator, and the heart to lead with integrity and honour,” Cook said, reflecting on Ternus’s qualifications.
Ternus is responsible for managing all of Apple’s hardware products, including iconic devices like the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. His leadership will focus on sustaining the company’s technological advancements and maintaining its competitive edge in the market.
