Rapist jailed for deliberate HIV infections
Adam Hall, 43, has received a life sentence with a minimum of 23 years in prison after being convicted of intentionally transmitting HIV to five young men and two teenage boys. The conviction, delivered at Newcastle’s crown court, reveals his targeted campaign between 2016 and 2023 to harm individuals he met online or at local bars.
Targeted abuse and conviction
The court heard that Hall focused on “vulnerable” victims, using his actions to cause lasting physical and emotional damage. He was found guilty of causing serious injury to seven people, four of whom were sexually assaulted. Victims described the experience as a profound violation, leaving them with lifelong health challenges and enduring trauma.
“Selfish actions had stripped their futures away,” remarked Judge Edward Bindloss, emphasizing Hall’s intent to inflict pain.
Northumbria Police confirmed additional victims have come forward since the trial, prompting a new investigation into potential cases. Hall, who remained in his court cell during the sentencing, was accused of orchestrating a “systematic campaign” aimed at deliberately infecting victims with HIV. Prosecutor Kama Melly KC highlighted his calculated approach, stating the crimes were part of a broader effort to harm those he targeted.
