Senior Lucy Letby Hospital Boss Arrested
Cheshire Police have arrested a high-ranking hospital administrator associated with the Countess of Chester Hospital, where nurse Lucy Letby killed seven infants. The individual was detained and later released on bail following a property search on Wednesday. This action is part of a broader investigation into leadership accountability at the hospital, known as Operation Duet.
Operation Duet encompasses two separate inquiries: one into corporate manslaughter and another into gross negligence manslaughter. The probe was initiated after Letby’s 2023 conviction for the deaths of seven babies and attempted murders of seven more in the neonatal unit between 2015 and 2016. The police have not disclosed the age, gender, or location of the searched property, though sources indicate the arrested person is among three hospital officials bailed in 2025 on suspicion of gross negligence.
“Searches at the property have now concluded,” stated Cheshire Police. “Both the corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter aspects of the case are still active, with no fixed timeline for resolution.”
The investigation into senior leaders aims to assess whether failures in responding to rising infant fatalities constituted criminal behavior. Authorities are examining potential negligent actions or decisions by individuals within the hospital’s management. The scope of the inquiry expanded in March 2025 to include charges of gross negligence manslaughter.
