Stars line red carpet at London premiere of Devil Wears Prada 2

Stars Gather for London Premiere of Devil Wears Prada Sequel

Two decades after the debut of *The Devil Wears Prada*, its cast reunited in London for the launch of the sequel, marking a rare sunny event. The film’s original stars—Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci—return to their roles, joined by newcomers Simone Ashley and Kenneth Branagh. The story continues to center on the vibrant personalities of the fashion journalism world, adapting to modern media shifts while staying true to its core themes.

Cast Reflections on Reuniting

Speaking to the BBC during the red carpet appearance, Anne Hathaway shared her enthusiasm for the project, recalling the initial excitement of joining the original cast 20 years prior. “It was so much fun” to reprise her role, she said, adding that her “initial instinct 20 years ago” to sign on had been a pivotal moment. Emily Blunt echoed the sentiment, calling her return to the character “effortless” and likening it to “a comfortable pair of old slippers.”

“It was so much fun to be part of the film again after that initial instinct 20 years ago to sign on to the original project,” Hathaway remarked.

“Returning to Emily was effortless—like a comfortable pair of old slippers,” Blunt said.

Blunt also highlighted the emotional weight of the film, noting her children’s reaction after watching it this week. “They loved it,” she shared, while reflecting on the original’s lasting impact. “I didn’t know the first one would have this epic life and multi-generational embrace.” She described the surprise of the sequel’s massive reception: “We started shooting the second one, and I don’t think we imagined it would have the fever it did. When thousands of people hit the streets to watch us film, I was like, ‘oh wow, this is nuts’.”

New Faces and Nostalgic Moments

Amy Dimoldenberg, a content creator and social media star, makes a brief appearance in the sequel. She expressed disbelief at her inclusion, saying, “I can’t believe I’m in it for even a moment.” Dimoldenberg, who watched the original at age 12, joked that the film had “changed my life” and inspired her career path in fashion journalism.

“I remember seeing it when I was 12 years old, I went to the cinema to see it and I don’t want to just sound dramatic but I do think it changed my life,” Dimoldenberg quipped.

Caleb Hearon, who portrays one of Miranda Priestly’s assistants, admitted being a long-time fan of the franchise. “I kept it pretty cool and normal” on set, he said, while acknowledging the honor of working with the film’s legendary cast. “It was very, very exciting and humbling to be around all the incredible people who worked on the film,” he added, with a glance at his co-stars.

Simone Ashley’s Role in the New Era

Simone Ashley, known for her role in *Bridgerton*, joins the cast as part of Miranda’s new team. She described the experience as “one of the highlights of my career,” praising the original stars for their mentorship. “Emily, Annie, Stanley, and Meryl were just so wonderful and lovely,” she said. “Working with them was a masterclass for me.”

*Devil Wears Prada 2* hits UK cinemas on 1 May, bringing the iconic story back to the big screen.
