Authorities are examining the cause of a fatal house fire in Wolverhampton that occurred on Friday evening. Emergency responders, including officers from West Midlands Police, arrived at Mason Street around 20:30 BST, joined by teams from the West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service. Firefighters entered the building and saved two young children, but both were later declared dead at the scene, according to police.

Other Injuries and Immediate Care

Before the arrival of emergency services, two additional children and a woman had already exited the property. They were assessed by ambulance personnel but required no hospitalization. The fire service stated that medical aid was swiftly provided to the rescued children, with medics offering advanced life support. However, both children ultimately succumbed to their injuries shortly after.

“Our thoughts are with the children’s loved ones and all those impacted by this heartbreaking incident,” said a representative from the West Midlands Police.

Police have set up a cordon around the scene to facilitate their investigation into the fire’s origins. The area remains under restriction as inquiries proceed, with the property suffering significant damage. The spokesperson emphasized the ongoing efforts to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
