Bloodborne Video Game Film Adaptation Announced by YouTuber Jacksepticeye
The 2015 PlayStation exclusive Bloodborne, a critically acclaimed title, is set for a new animated film adaptation. Developed in collaboration with YouTube personality Jacksepticeye, the project aims to bring the game’s dark, gothic world to life. Despite its popularity and a strong fanbase, Bloodborne has never had a sequel, though its devoted followers have long hoped for one.
The film will be produced by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, who emphasize that the adaptation will stay faithful to the game’s essence. Details about the plot and release schedule remain undisclosed, but the announcement was made during this year’s CinemaCon event in Las Vegas. The gathering, which brings together studios and cinema executives, provided a glimpse into upcoming projects, including a fresh preview of the Spider-Man sequel Brand New Day.
FromSoftware’s Legacy and Jacksepticeye’s New Role
Bloodborne, crafted by the legendary Japanese studio FromSoftware, is part of the acclaimed Dark Souls series. Known for its challenging combat and immersive setting, the game quickly became a favorite among critics and players alike. Since its launch, it has earned a near-mythical reputation, with fans eagerly awaiting a follow-up or remake.
Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán McLoughlin, gained fame as a YouTuber but has since ventured into acting. His recent work includes a cameo in Iron Lung, a horror film directed by Markiplier. Additionally, he voiced a character in the game Dispatch, which received critical praise. The studio behind Bloodborne, FromSoftware, has instead prioritized other titles like Elden Ring, which is also being adapted into a film.
“Variety reports that in the new clip, Holland’s Peter Parker discovers MJ has moved on,”
according to the entertainment outlet. The Spider-Man sequel’s trailer, unveiled at CinemaCon, shows Peter Parker learning that MJ has found someone new, following his previous decision to erase himself from loved ones’ memories.
Meanwhile, Aaron Sorkin introduced a clip of his upcoming film The Social Reckoning, which explores Facebook’s creation and the role of the Wall Street Journal in whistleblowing. The project stars Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg, alongside other notable talents. Dwayne Johnson also appeared with Kevin Hart and Jack Black to showcase the new Jumanji movie, Jumanji: Open World, while honoring Robin Williams, who starred in the original 1995 film.
CinemaCon gives attendees a behind-the-scenes look at projects in development. The event, held in Las Vegas, not only highlighted Bloodborne’s film adaptation but also featured other high-profile content, such as a first look at The Social Reckoning and a holographic Tom Holland presenting Spider-Man footage. Fans were left emotional after witnessing the new clip, which underscores the evolving story of Peter Parker.
